Lowell Eugene Stanfield, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Towanda Guthrie Hospital Skilled Nursing, Towanda, Pennsylvania. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m., St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Lisbon, Iowa. The family invites you to join them back at the church for a luncheon following the burial.
Lowell was born on June 4, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Lois (Fredrickson) Stanfield. He was the eldest of their eight children. Lowell graduated from West Branch High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Joyce Carson on November 25, 1964. They built a life together for 34 years in Lisbon, Iowa, before her early departure from this earth. They will be united again in spirt and he will be laid to rest by her side.
Lowell served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He retired from Rockwell-Goss Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a machinist building newspaper printing presses. He had a passionate love for his family and the game of golf. He often combined these loves together with golfing trips/vacations with family members.
Lowell is survived by his children, Rodney Stanfield, and Valerie (Travis) Collins; grandchildren, Jarod Stanfield, Carson (Jordyn) Stanfield, and Joanna Laugerman; step-grandchildren, Raelee Collins, Tarron Collins, Titas Collins, and Faylyn Collins; and siblings, Lois (Lonny) Jensen-Wilkinson, Larry (Norma) Stanfield, Ronald Stanfield, Susan Kaufman, Diane Stanfield, and Janelle Polley.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Dennis Stanfield.
Memorials may be made to the family.
