Donna Elizabeth Brown was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Herdliska) Brown. She attended Shueyville schools graduating from high school there in 1943. On Dec. 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Kenneth “Guy” Louvar at the EUB Church in Shueyville. The couple farmed near North Liberty for many years, with Betty dying in the house that had been home for nearly 60 years.
As a farm wife she loved the many blessings of this life, her flowers, gardens, neighbors and family. Betty was an avid quilter, having done quilts for most of the family and some friends along the way. She was a very faithful member of the Shueyville United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school for 47 years, she continued to receive the perfect attendance award year after year in the church, and at the time of her death, she was the longest living member of the church. Not only did she believe in supporting her local church, she was active in support to the many missions their church supported, including one of her favorites, the Christian Appalachian Project of Kentucky.
Her family includes her four children and their spouses, Peggy and Jim Jedlicka, Julie and Everett Eschen, Don and Beth Louvar, all of North Liberty, and Tom and Becky Louvar of Coralville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her siblings and their spouses, Dick and Marilyn Brown, Bill and Lyda Brown, and Jane and Carl Colony all of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and three sisters, Frances Stimmel, Florence Louvar and Peggy Louise Brown.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Betty's family and her services.
