Louise H. Schropp, 82, longtime Oxford area resident, died peacefully surrounded by the family whom she loved on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford with Father Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, or after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Tuesday and a parish vigil at 8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Louise was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Iowa City, the daughter of Francis and Margaret Duffy Kinney. She was a graduate of Oxford High School. On Aug. 4, 1953, Louise married Kenneth "Fritz" Schropp at St. Mary's Church in
Oxford.
Louise and Fritz farmed in the Oxford area for many years. Louise treasured being a stay-at-home mom during that time. In 1975, Louise was employed with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services with the State of Iowa, retiring in 1997.
Louise was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Birthday Club. Most important to Louise was her
family.
Louise is survived by her loving children, Janice Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Cheryl) Schropp of Iowa City, Jayne (Scott) Brumwell of Solon and Mike (Stacey) Schropp of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren, Toby, Stephanie and Tyler Thompson, Elijah Beck, Isaac, Elizabeth and Abraham Schropp, Hannah (Jason) Grimm, Jenni and A.J. Brumwell and Logan, Carter and Aiden Schropp; and three great-grandchildren, MacKenna and Bella Thompson and Elliot Grimm.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fritz in 2011; her granddaughter, Candace Marie Thompson; and 12 brothers and sisters.
