Louise Poduska, 87, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015. Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville on Monday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday, Feb. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Solon.
Louise Monica Walshire was born in Mechanics-ville, Iowa, on May 4, 1927, to parents, Edward and Elsie (Hudacek) Walshire. She graduated from Mechanicsville Community High School in 1944 and the Mercy School of Nursing in 1948. She was united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville to Edward Poduska on Aug. 12, 1948.
She was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Guild. She enjoyed crocheting, going for drives and gardening. She was a very hard worker and helped on the farm. She was very close with her mother and used to talk with her daily. Louise really loved spending time with her grandchildren and caring for them.
Louise is survived by her children, Patrick Poduska, Mechanicsville, David (Malinda) Poduska, Lowden, and Thomas (Diane) Poduska, John (Ann) Poduska and Tim Poduska, all of Mechanicsville; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and her brother, Everette (Evelyn) Walshire, Mechanicsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her daughter, Theresa; her son, Eddie; and brothers, Lewis and Thomas Walshire.
