Louis Leonard Stolba passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on June 26, 2021, at the age of 98 years, 7 months. A visitation and memorial service will be held Tuesday July 6, at the American Legion in Marion, Iowa. The visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m.
Louis was born Nov. 17, 1922, to Edward and Anna (Dvorak) Stolba in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, during World War II. Louis married Geraldine Lorence on Aug. 23, 1944. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945. He went on to have a 38-year career at Iowa Electric Light And Power Co. in Cedar Rapids. His greatest joy in life was his family.
Louis is survived by his wife of almost 77 years, Geraldine; daughter, Jeanne (Bill) Krejca; son, Jim (Maureen) Stolba; daughter-in-law, Vickie Stolba; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Marcella Stolba and Carol Stolba.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; four sisters and six brothers.
The family would like to thank the St. Luke's Pulmonary Care Unit, dad's nurse the hospice nurses and chaplains who stayed with Mom, Jeanne and Jim the whole time.
