Lorraine Pauline Hamilton, 84, of Shueyville, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018.
Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids are providing funeral services that will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Mass will be conducted by Father Ken Glaser. The family will greet friends at 9:30 a.m., one hour before services.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roger; children, Dawn (Chuck) Klohs of Shueyville, Rex (Judy) Hamilton of Marion and their children, Jason (Kandice) Hamilton, Nathan (Andrea) Hamilton, Keegan (Dianna) Hamilton and Stacey (Dusty) Feldman, Vicky (Kim) Kirkegaard of Madison, Wis., and their children, Tracy (Jeff) Waugh, Brian Kirkegaard and Kari Kirkegaard, and Tami (Mike) Franck of Cedar Rapids and their children, Nicole (Chad) Trimble, Rebecca Franck and Sandra (Ryan) Franck; her sister, Theresa Stewart; brother, Marvin (Dodie) Zeman; along with 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Kristen Kirkegaard.
Lorraine was born April 28, 1934, in Waubach, Neb., the daughter of Alois and Mary (Ciemnoczolowski) Zeman. As a child she lived in Grand Island, Neb., before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1941. Lorraine attended McKinley High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. On Sept. 7, 1953, Lorraine married Roger (Jake) Hamilton in Cedar Rapids where they raised their four children. She had been employed at Bishop's Buffet and Iowa National Insurance Co. before retiring from Cherry-Burrell Corp. in 1999 after 36 or more years. During her retirement, Lorraine enjoyed being outdoors pulling weeds and watching the charm of hummingbirds that gathered around her many feeders. She always looked forward to the annual Tea for Thee Luncheon at church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and will be greatly missed.
Her family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses (including granddaughter, Nicole) of Mercy Medical & St. Luke's hospitals that provided Lorraine care over the past few years.
