Lorraine Light of Marion passed away Monday, June 26, 2017. Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Private burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by three children, Gary (Fanny) Light of Scottsdale, Ariz., Linda (Tom) Bever of Marion and Marianne (Tim) Fitzpatrick of Urbandale; four grandchildren, Kari (Jeff) Brisel of Marion, Shane and Bret Light of Scottsdale and Connor Fitzpatrick of Urbandale; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Logan and Colin Brisel of Marion; and her sisters-in-law, Pat Soukup of Longmont, Colo., and Iola Light of Fort Collins, Colo. Also surviving are lovely nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Light; a sister-in-law, Opal Fisher; her husband, Franklin Light; her parents; a brother, Vince Clear; and sister, Elaine Welsh.
Lorraine was born April 30, 1923, in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Stella (McGillicuddy) Clear. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1940 and graduated from Brown's Commerce College in Iowa City in 1941. She was united in marriage to Frank Light on Oct. 20, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa. Lorraine enjoyed her family, first and foremost. She loved to dance and sing anything musical. She was a member of Sweet Adeline's for eight years. She was a dial assistant clerk for Northwestern Bell Co. for six years and a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for 20 years. She also worked the information desk and was an assistant for the Pace Nurses. Lorraine will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
