Lorraine Flynn, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 5,
at Cottage Grove Place.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Joe; her sister, Glenice Coderre; and her brothers, Mel and Les Spitzack.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Rick and Donna, Diane and Dave, Mike and Mary, Bob and Cathy, Denny and Diane and K.C. and Kathy; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., ending with a brief prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lorraine was happiest when surrounded by family and whipping up a three-course, sit-down dinner. She and Joe had many wonderful friends who enriched their lives both here and during their winters in Florida. She enjoyed playing cards and golf with family and friends, taking grandkids to Chapman's and other fun places, baking cookies for all and sitting on the porch watching her entire extended family enjoy the annual Lanesboro summer weekend. The value she placed on family, friends and faith continue to inspire her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2310 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. They also wish to thank Lorraine's caregivers at Cottage Grove Place for their many kindnesses and excellent care.
