Lorraine Barger, 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Green Center Cemetery, Morley. Pastor Karen Nelson will officiate at the services.

Surviving are her son, Terry, and his wife, Linda, of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Naomi of Mukilteo, Wash.; six grandchildren, Ben, Zeke, Molly, Alicia, Josh (Andrea) Barger and Tara (Ted) Yuza; five great-grandchildren, Sydnee Johnson, Madison and Zach Yuza, Brooke and Emily Barger; a sister-in-law, Wanda Bartilson; and a nephew, Bob (Sherri) Wageman and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; and a son, Curt, on Nov. 16, 2016.
Lorraine Bickerstaff was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Morley, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Ruth Clark Bickerstaff. Lorraine graduated from Morley Community High School in 1943. She then worked as a secretary at the Iowa Men's Reformatory in Anamosa. Lorraine Bickerstaff and Ralph Barger were married Oct. 21, 1950, in Galena, Ill.
Lorraine and Ralph purchased her family's grocery store in Morley; they were the third generation to own the business, and operated it for 20 years. In 1970, Lorraine and Ralph changed careers and opened Barger Insurance Agency in Morley, where Lorraine was the secretary. They operated the business until 1997 when they retired.
Lorraine was a member of the Pythian Sisters, UgoIgo Club and Anamosa Camera Club, and was very active in the Morley community with Ralph. She always was very proud to have been a member of the Morley girls' basketball team and band and a baton twirler.
Lorraine and Ralph loved to go dancing. They also played Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for years for all the children in the area. As Mrs. Santa Claus, Lorraine used her love of cooking and baking to make treats for all the children they saw though the Christmas season.
