Lorimer, James S.
James S. Lorimer, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his home following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Lucille King and Chaplain Joseph Kane. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Dianne (Tom) Dahl of Peoria, Ariz.; son, Richard (Julie) Lorimer of Springville; stepsons, Mark Hoffman of Burlington and Greg (Jodi) Hoffman of Virden, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret McCune of Cedar Rapids and Jean (Gerhardt) Moldenhauer of LaCresent, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Ann; brother, John; and sister, Marilyn.
James Stark Lorimer was born April 11, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the son of James Parkinson and Lillian Mae (Voorhies) Lorimer. He served his country in the Marines during the Korean conflict. He married Margaret Ann Volz on April 30, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1991. James later married Linda Joyce Gillette on April 15, 2000, in Cedar Rapids. James worked for Altorfer Machinery as a truck driver, retiring in 1992.
Jim was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen, Elks, American Legion and Harmony Lodge Masons.
