Lori Larean Hawbaker, 62, of Adel passed away, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Celebration of Life: Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Adel United Methodist Church, time to be determined.
Lori was born on July 22, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Eunice (Hite) Edler. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and earned an associate degree from Upper Iowa University. On April 7, 1984, she was united in marriage to Clarke Hawbaker in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lori worked as a senior financial analyst at Continental Western for the last 24 years.
Lori’s hobbies included reading, baking, and making crafts. She enjoyed the time she spent with her church group. She looked forward to Cousin’s Week. Lori and Clarke enjoyed the time they spent together attending Comic Book Conventions. She was an animal lover and would have adopted every available dog in an animal shelter. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Clarke of Adel; children Alysa Hite, Rian Brewer-Hawbaker, and Lucas Hite-Hawbaker, all of Adel; brother Dennis Edler, sister-in-law Marge Edler, brother-in-law Larry Wisner, niece Tonya Moore, nephews Scott, Todd, and Rodney Edler, and cousin Roxann Inman.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Henry and Terry Edler, and sister Patricia Wisner.
