Loretta Wesbrook, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Gathering of Remembrance: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Robin Oliver, Steven Wesbrook, Matthew (Lani) Wesbrook, Charles Wesbrook II and Ronald (Raegan) Wesbrook, all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois (Will) Feickert of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Wesbrook Sr.; infant daughter, Laurie Ann Wesbrook; siblings, Keith Young, Ron Young and Judy Bohlen; son-in-law, Sam Oliver; and grandson, Evan Volkers.
Loretta was born May 28, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Clarence and Olive (Smith) Young. She attended Wilson High School. On May 28, 1955, she married Charles Wesbrook Sr. in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Eagles Food Center for 23 years, then Lil Drug for eight years until her retirement. During those years she also did home daycare.
Loretta loved baking, sewing, raising flowers and plants and took pride in a clean house. In her house there was always country western music playing.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Yacoub, Dr. Ahmed, the staff at Mercy Dialysis on Council and the staff at Mercy Medical Center.
