Loretta Vivian Baxter, 96
of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Lakeland, Fla., died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Prairie Hills Senior Living. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Burial: Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, Mich. Teahen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Loretta is survived by two daughters, Kathy Kammerer of Cedar Rapids and Pat (Ron) Jones of Kokomo, Ind.; three sons, Robert (Madonna) of Boise, Idaho, Ronald (Joette) of Lincoln, Mich., and Russell (Inez) of Meridian, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; son-in-law, Jack Kammerer; grandson, John Kammerer; 12 brothers and five sisters.
Loretta was born on March 15, 1925, in Black River, Mich., the daughter of Adolphus and Melvina LaVigne Gauthier. She married Russell Baxter on Feb. 27, 1944, in Black River, Mich. Loretta was the owner of a drapery business out of her home for 30 years.
Loretta was a very skilled golfer and enjoyed playing bingo and quilting. Family time was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loretta's family would like to thank Prairie Hills and Hospice of Mercy for the wonderful and compassionate care that was given to her.
