Loretta Faye Hanus, 79, of Dysart, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Traer. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart, where a service of the rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Dysart.

Loretta Faye Hanus was born May 17, 1934, to Peter and Vanetta (Fink) Byrnes/Knoop in Grundy County. She attended rural schools and graduated from Traer High School in 1952. Loretta married Donald Hanus on June 15, 1953. They lived on a farm near Dysart all of their married lives.
She was currently a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, a previous member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, K.D. Lodge 130, American Legion Auxiliary, as well as Traer and Waterloo Women's Bowling Associations.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daryl (Florence) Hanus and Neil (Misty) Hanus of Traer; one daughter, Denise (Greg) Peterson of Belleville, Ill.; one grandson, Nathan (Holly Fell) Hanus of La Porte City; two granddaughters, Maureen (Boyd) Johanningmeier of Traer and Courtney Davison of Camdenton, Mo.; three great-grandsons, Seth and Evan Hanus of La Porte City and Austin Johanningmeier of Traer; and two great-grand-daughters, Madyson and Brooklyn Johanningmeier of Traer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Coleen (Hanus) Short; a half brother, Rodger Knoop; and a stepsister, Neva Peterson.
Loretta will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
