Loretta Snyder Allard, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, in her home. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, by the Rev. David Renfro. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church after 9 a.m.
Loretta was born Aug. 14, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Mary Behrends Snyder. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1949 and married Roy H. Allard at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on Sept. 15, 1952. Loretta was employed by Merchants National Bank, Penick & Ford and retired from Von Maur in 1993.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Loretta was active in Camp Fire and taught a neighborhood Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include her husband, Roy, of 62 years; two children, Rhonda Allard McGowan of Indianola and Mike (Chris) Allard of Plymouth, Minn.; five grandchildren, Pastor Andrew (Allison) McGowan, Aaron (Rhiannon) McGowan, Amy (Kyle) Schock, Tara and Jenna Allard; and five great-grandchildren, Elias, Loretta, Rigby and Amariah McGowan and Madelynn Schock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary, and her brother, Robert.
We would like to thank Dr. Wahle and Jennifer, Dr. Ghosh, Dr. Banks and staff, and Unity Point Hospice – Amy and Angie, for all of their loving care. We also would like to thank Pastor David Renfro.
