Lorenz, Matthew John

Matthew John Lorenz, 58, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 13, 2011, in Cheyenne, Wyo. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Springville. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors by American Legion Post No. 331 of Springville.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; children, Christopher Lorenz (Airika Nielsen) of Lincoln, Neb., Jennifer (Vinico) Ovando of Lincoln, Neb., Jay Lorenz of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Elizabeth (Tim) McCulloch of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a stepdaughter, Heather (Ty) Sampson of Roy, Utah; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Kristen (Jim) Ostrander of Waterloo, Mark (Ann) Lorenz of Springville, Tracey Lorenz (Dan Duchman) of Council Bluffs, Valerie Bisanz of Atlanta, Ga., Tom (Kimery) Lorenz of Waterloo, and Heidi (Rob) Ackinclose of Atlanta, Ga.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Matt's memory.
