LORAYNE DE ETTE (NEBENDAHL) VOTROBECK
Elberon
Lorayne De Ette (Nebendahl) Votrobeck died April 22, 2022. She was born Sept. 4, 1928, on the family farm in York Township, south of Elberon, Iowa.
Lorayne was the fourth of five daughters born to Emil and Alberta (Letch) Nebendahl. She attended York No. 6 Country School through eighth grade and graduated from Elberon High School in 1946.
Lorayne married George H. Votrobeck on Aug. 25, 1947, at the "Little Brown Church" in Nashua, Iowa. To this union were born three sons and two daughters, Richard, Brenda, Robert, Ronald and Bonnie. Lorayne was a homemaker. She loved making cookies for her grandchildren's birthdays and baking rohlicky for family. She also helped George with his field work and milking cows. Her greatest joy was when the "Noise" was home. She was known as "Aunt Aino" by many of her nieces and nephews.
Lorayne enjoyed fishing with George in their boat on Holiday Lake and Lake Pepin in Minnesota. Catching a walleye that was " a Keeper" always made her day. She enjoyed passing time with family and friends, visiting over card games, dominoes and dice. And every Friday night with special friends, The Junges.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George, in 2009; and sisters and their husbands, Mabel (Sylvester) Postolka, Ruby (Richard) Overturf & (Lloyd) Welch, Ruth (Albert) Lyman and Beulah (Ed) Brandt.
Surviving her are her children, Richard (Barbara) Votrobeck, Brenda (Terry) Kerr, Robert (Mary Jo) Votrobeck, Ronald (Maxine) Votrobeck and Bonnie (Morris J.) Biddle; 16 grandchildren, Nick Votrobeck, Collin (Sarah) Votrobeck, Gina Hamilton, Sara (Kelly) Nekvinda, Lukas (Heather) Kerr, Holly (Paul) King, Cara Dahl, Jason Hedgecoth, Adam (Bekah) Votrobeck, Kevin (Tami) Votrobeck, Shellie (Mike) Morrison, Deanna (Brandon) Kucera, Charlie (Jamie) Votrobeck, Kimberly (John) Johnson, Andrea (Darrell) Mathis and M. Denton (Amber) Biddle; plus 44 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Leona (Votrobeck) Cecak.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, Iowa. Burial will take place at Irving Cemetery, Irving, Iowa. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
