Loras Patrick Lahey, 72, of Lamont, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. A celebration of his life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Reiff Funeral Home in Winthrop, where a visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Lahey Funeral Home of Maquoketa is serving the family.
Pat was born Jan. 12, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Loras J. and Cecelia D. (Steffens) Lahey. He served in the U.S. Army. On May 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Diane Lynch at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek. To this union four children were born: Joe, Laura, Shelly and Larry. Later, he married Marty Knight on Oct. 30, 1983. To this marriage a son, Patrick Wayne Lahey, was born to join his half brother, Bobby Joe Knight.
Pat was a truck driver for many years and later owned and operated his own trucking company. He was a member of American Legion Post 0346 Loren Foster in Lamont and was a volunteer firefighter for the Lamont Fire Department for many years. In his earlier years, he was a stock car driver on dirt tracks.
He raised four wonderful children who blessed him with many grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Joe (Jodie) of Lamont, Laura (Kevin) Myers of Enola, Pa., Shelly (Butch) Waitman of Lamont and Larry (Debbie) of Springfield, Ill.; many grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Gloria Jeannie Wedo of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; two brothers, Chuck (Sandy) Lahey of Durand, Ill., and Randy Lahey of Maquoketa; and a sister-in-law, Doris Lahey of New Glarus, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gail; and a brother, Jerry.
