Lonny Jake Herrman, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, with his family by his side. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.

Lonny was born July 31, 1940, in Cripple Creek, Colo., the son of Jake and Margaret (Rebel) Herrman. He attended Central High School in Davenport, Iowa. Lonny served his country honorably in the United States Navy. On June 21, 1961, Lonny was united in marriage to Kathleen O’Kelly. Kathleen passed away in 2021. Lonny worked at John Deere in Moline, Ill., retiring after 32 years. He then worked at Northwest Mechanical in Davenport, Iowa, for 12 years until his final retirement. He was a member of UAW. Lonny enjoyed watching dirt track racing and playing bingo. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Terry) McClenathan of Cedar Rapids and John Herrman of Wilton, Iowa; stepdaughter, Rose (Kurt) Reed of Shellsburg, Iowa; grandchildren, Melissa, Kari, Jake, Samuel, Morgan and Ricky; many great-grandchildren; and brothers, LCDR USN Larry (Georgina) Herrman (Ret.) of Centerville, Va., and Darwyn Herrman of Rock Island, Ill.

Lonny was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Margaret; wife, Kathleen; and their beloved cat, Precious.
