Cedar Rapids
Lonnie W. Stein, 69, of Tripoli, formerly of Keystone, Cedar Rapids and Swisher, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at his home of cancer.
He was born June 19, 1948, in Keystone, Iowa, to Wilbert H. and Jeanne Deppe
Stein. He married N. Diane Crandall in
1966. They later divorced. He married Jane Tragord on Aug, 28, 2010, in Waverly. He graduated from Benton Community High School in 1966. Lonnie farmed since high school, had worked as a painter and inspector at FMC, and in information technology at IBM and St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was past president of Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids and a member of the Swisher Men's Club
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Tripoli; daughter, DeaJo Stein of Cedar Rapids; son, Corey (Linda) Stein of Columbia, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Carrie (Danny) Goldberg of St Paul, Minn., and Sarah (Emmett) Berry of Denver, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Cameron Bantz, Jeremy and Benjamin Aldrich, Kevin and Dennis Hackl, Carlie and Hailey Knoll, Evan and Mariam Berry, Elliot and Amelia Flack and Duncan Goldberg; his mother, Jeanne Stein of Keystone; and a sister, Sandra (Ron) Stechcon of Milwaukee, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his father
In lieu of a service, lift your glass with friends in memory of Lonnie the next time you are together. Family inurnment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.
