Longerbeam, Bonnie Jean Depew
Bonnie Jean Depew Longerbeam, 82, of Lisbon, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Bonnie's funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, by the Rev. Thomas Mattson. Her visitation will be Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Bonnie is to be buried next to her husband, Jim, in Lisbon Cemetery.
Surviving Bonnie are her son, Terry (Carla), Fairfield; two grandsons, James Joseph “J.J.” of Marion and Kyle of Port Alsworth, Alaska; a granddaughter, Jessica Longerbeam of West Des Moines; two great-grandsons, Oliver James and Asher Joseph, Marion; a brother, Connie (Cecile “Sissy”) Depew of Westmoreland, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bonnie in death were her parents; her husband, Jim; and sister, Donna and husband Jim McVean.
Bonnie was born March 20, 1931, in Greenleaf, Kan., the daughter of Charles and Genevieve Spencer Depew. She graduated from Greenleaf, Kan., High School in 1949. Bonnie married Jim Longerbeam on April 27, 1954, in Washington, Kan. He died March 28, 1995. The couple moved to Lisbon in 1959. Bonnie shared in the responsibility of raising their son, Terry, and owning and operating the Sutliff General Store.
