Lola (Boddicker) Jacobi, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, following a lengthy illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Newhall, with Father Jacob Dunne as Celebrant. A Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Those not attending the Vigil Service may visit with the family from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. or after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday before the mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo.

Lola was born July 5, 1948 in Newhall, the daughter of Leo and Carolyn (Davis) Boddicker. She attended Newhall Community School during elementary/middle school, and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1966. She went on to attend Quincy College in Quincy, IL. Lola married her lifelong sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Jacobi, on November 29, 1969, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Newhall. Together they moved to Olathe, KS, in the Kansas City area, for two years, where their oldest child was born. The young family then moved to Waterloo where they raised two more children and Lola was employed by Reed, Merner, & Sindlinger Law Firm. She later worked at John Deere Engine Works, serving in numerous positions, retiring in 2017 after 38 years of service.

Lola enjoyed spending time with family, reading, traveling and camping. A passion of hers was operating Lola’s Collectibles in her spare time. She went to various flea markets and had stalls at Antiques Iowa in Story City and the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall in Des Moines.

Lola is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard “Dick” of Waterloo; three children: Jami (Marty) McGinley of Overland Park, KS, Carrie (Rick) Parsons of Olathe, KS, and Jeff (Ann Knight) Jacobi of Waterloo, as well as Nicholle Jacobi of Waterloo; nine grandchildren: Brady (Lesly) McGinley of Dallas, TX, Logan and Graham McGinley of Overland Park, KS, Oliver and Elizabeth Parsons of Olathe, KS, and Riley (Alejandra) Jacobi, Morgan, Jacob and Maggie Jacobi of Waterloo; four sisters: Janice (Harold) Duncalf, Rita (Ronald) Johnson, Diantha (Nolan) Zadra and Rosalie (Robert) Jahn; sister-in-law, Patricia (James) Russell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vincent Boddicker; sisters: LaVonne Boddicker, Marilyn Freytag, and Charlotte Boddicker; nephews: Adam Boddicker and Aaron Jahn; and niece, Angela Scheib.
