Lois M. Tucker, 76, of Brandon, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at the University Hospitals and Clinics in
Iowa City. Graveside
memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Brandon Cemetery. The Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory of Independence is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Lois was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Chicago, the daughter of Gerald M. and Evelyn M. (Cameron) Newcomb. At a young age, she moved with her family to the Cedar Rapids area where she attended Cedar Rapids schools. On April 28, 1953, she was married to Melvin M. Tucker in Marion. The couple resided in Cedar Rapids and Evansdale before moving to Brandon in 1976.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and working outdoors in her yard.
Lois is survived by her husband, Melvin of Brandon; five children, Franklin (Theresa) Tucker of Brandon, Jerry (Mike) McNuey of Jesup, Debra (Mark) McConnell of Waterloo, Kevin (Tammi) Tucker of Cedar Rapids and Tom (Becky) Tucker of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Dray of Texas, Janet Meyers of Dumont and Edith Keilholtz of Monticello; and two brothers, Frank Egan of Cedar Rapids and Ton Egan of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ruthie Newcomb; and two brothers, Lawrence and Gerald Newcomb.
