Lois Elaine Stolte, 85, of Martelle, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at the Anamosa Care Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7,
at Martelle United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.goettschonline.com.
Lois Elaine Koppenhaver was born March 21, 1933, in Newport, Iowa, the daughter of D. Everette and Della (Tenley) Koppenhaver. She attended Martelle school. She was a member of the Martelle United Methodist Church, where she served as the co-chairwoman of the Methodist Women for several years.
On Oct. 15, 1950, she married Elmer Stolte at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stanwood. He died in 1995. Together, they lived and farmed southeast of Martelle. She enjoyed her family, country, gospel and bluegrass music, and a good joke to make her laugh.
She is survived by her children, Carmen (Daryl) Brennaman, Lisbon, Marlynn (Joseph) Fogg, Tipton, Judy (Craig) Faust, Coggon, Nancy (Richard) Hughes, Vinton, Teresa (Ricky Joe) Conley, Monona, and Dale (Sarah) Stolte, Springville; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Margaret) Koppenhaver, Mount Vernon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents; sons, Earnest and Alan; sons-in-law, Kent Woods and Ronald Parker; and sisters, Helen Nielson and Doris Ingels.
