Lois Schuchmann, 72, of Cedar Rapids, was called to her home with Jesus Christ on Feb. 28, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, a result of non-smoker's lung cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jennifer Schuchmann of Atlanta, Ga.; and her grandson, Jordan Schuchmann. She also is survived by her sister, Faye Gerner of Cedar Rapids; and many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marie Kimm Gerner of Blairstown.
Lois was born Sept. 25, 1942. She graduated from Newhall, Iowa, High School in 1960, and shortly thereafter, went to work at United Fire and Casualty Co. in Cedar Rapids. She completed her employment of 40 years as office manager of the bonding and fidelity department.
After retirement, she did volunteer work at St. Luke's Hospital Flower Shop, West Ridge Care Center, Bethany Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church in Naples, Fla.
Lois enjoyed travel with her husband, Fred. Together they visited many states and countries.
She had chosen the following to be her honorary pallbearers: Marty Kimm, Colleen Conrad, Cheryl Housman, Chelsey Zittergruen, Taylor Stoddard, Monica Colvin and Abby Johnson.
Visitation will be at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Friday, March 6, from 3 until 6 p.m. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Michael Erickson. A memorial luncheon will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Lois requested memorials be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, St. Luke's Foundation or the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurses of UnityPoint Hospice for the love and compassion they extended to Lois while on her journey Home.
