Lois M Starks, 82, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Sept. 27, 2022, at her home. Per Lois’ wishes cremation has taken place and no open house or public funeral service will be held. The family will have private burial at a later date at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family.
Lois was born in May 1940, in Springville, Iowa, the daughter of Warren & Eleanor (Ralston) Carpenter. She graduated from Central City High School in 1958. In 1959, Lois was united in marriage to Harold A. Starks. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in April 2019. Lois retired from Rockwell Collins after 32 years of service. After retirement, she went to work helping senior citizens in the Central City area for the next 25 years. Lois was loved by many, many neighborhood children. They enjoyed coming to see Lois, baking cookies, coloring, painting, etc. She even took some children and their mothers to meet her second cousin, retired Baltimore Ravens guard, Marshal Yanda. Lois will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lois is survived and lovingly remembered by her two loving children, Marsha Starks and Theodore Starks, and loving daughter-in-law, Lisa; three brothers, Lyle, James (Jim) and Curtis; three sisters, Margaret (Maggie), Vera and Linda; and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Marlee); along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Eleanor; husband, Harold; four brothers, Howard, Ernest (Mike), Robert (Pat) and Lowell; and two sisters, Lucille and Shirley.
