Another angel received her wings July 26, 2025, at 10:15 p.m. at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Facility surrounded by family and friends.
Lois was born August 24, 1935, daughter of Rhinehart and Elsie Dirks. Lois married Henry Poppe September 18, 1951. They had three children, Steven Poppe (Rhonda Willmen), Lowden, Iowa, Debra (Robert) Gray, Center Junction, Iowa, and Kathy (Jim) Koerperich, Monticello, Iowa.
Lois owned and operated Center Junction Locker for several years. She worked at John McDonald Hospital, Energy Manufacturing, Monticello Nursing Home, and Silvercrest in Anamosa, Iowa.
Lois and Henry loved being around family. Lois and Henry loved to go to the Wisconsin Dells and Branson, Missouri. Lois loved going antiquing and decorating cakes for special family occasions.
Lois is survived by her three children, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, her brother Melivin (Janis) Dirks, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Poppe, her parents Rhinehart and Elsie Dirks, in-laws Emil and Lucille Poppe, son-in-law Jim Koerperich, granddaughter Kerry Conrad, grandsons Cody Poppe and Chad Strait, sisters Margaret (Tony) Gravel, Joyce (Bill) Osterkamp, sister-in-law Marlene (Tom) Vesey Loren Eastman.
Service are pending at a later date. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Lois and her family into their care. The family would like to thank the staff at Monticello Nursing and Rehab and Pennington Square for their wonderful care.
