Lois Catherine Dietrich, 98, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne, with the Rev. David Lingard officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church in Van Horne from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be designated to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Lois was born June 10, 1919, in Van Horne to Roy and Anna (Brehm) Husted. She graduated from Shellsburg High School in 1937.
On March 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Glen H. Dietrich in Fort Snelling, Minn.
Lois worked with Glen as the office manager for Dietrich Construction in Van Horne, retiring in 1984. She was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and enjoyed membership in the Missionary Society. She also was a member of LWML, where she held numerous zone and district offices. She was a member of the library board and a member of the Community Club in Van Horne for many years. Lois enjoyed reading, knitting and cross stitching in her leisure time.
Lois is survived by two sons, Max (Jacqueline) Dietrich of Mesquite, Nev., and Randy Dietrich of Himalayas, India; two grandsons, Tim (Julia) Dietrich of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Craig (Robyn Brahinsky) Dietrich of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Carson and Glen Dietrich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen, in 2011; her sister, Edna; and brother-in-law, Robert Bergen.
