Lois Ann Brooks, 79 of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on January 25, 2024, at Brookdale Muirfield Assisted Living in Dublin, Ohio. The family will greet friends from 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 316 Vine Street in Center Point. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Thomas C. VanHemert officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Cedar Rapids is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lois was born on September 10, 1944, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick H. and Gladys Leota (Heiserman) Jons. She was a graduate of Alburnett High School and went on to attend Mt. Mercy College, earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting. On June 20, 1964, Lois was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Weller Brooks in Center Point, Iowa. Alongside raising her family, Lois was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point, where she sang in the church choir and often taught at Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a passion for quilting, specifically creating quilts for each of her grandchildren. Lois will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lois is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Christopher (Amie) Brooks and Michael (Mary) Brooks; grandchildren, Eric (Blaine) Brooks, Alexandra (Dan) Barton, Talia Brooks, and Olivia Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick Brooks; and two brothers, Lyle and Larry Jons.
