Loftsgard, Larry L.
Visitation for Larry L. Loftsgard, 57, of Davenport, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Monday at Marion Lutheran Church in Elgin. Inurnment will follow at the Marion Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Larry passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at his home in Davenport.
Larry Lee Loftsgard was born Aug. 28, 1952, to Bernard and Catherine (Boland) Loftsgard, in Postville, Iowa. He grew up on a farm outside of Gunder and graduated from Valley High School (Elgin) in 1970. Larry was baptized in 1952, confirmed May 7, 1967, and married to Paula Halverson on Dec. 27, 1980, all at the Marion Lutheran Church (Gunder), Elgin. Larry farmed with his father and brothers during the 1970s. In most recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed working for Paul Kuhn/Franzen Implement Co. for many years as a long haul semi driver.
Paula and Rhett want to honor Larry's incredible work ethic, his wit, and the quality of life he provided them.
Larry is survived by his wife, Paula; his son, Rhett; his parents, Bernard (Pa) and Catherine (Ma) of Elgin; his brother, Jerry (Bev) Loftsgard of Elgin; and his sister, Marilyn (Milt) Schutte of Elgin.
Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard Loftsgard Jr. (Tom); and his grandparents, Gilbert and Bessie Loftsgard, Phil and Ruey Boland
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Scott County Humane Society or Heartland Hospice of the Quad Cities.
