Loeffler, Maxine L.
Maxine L. Loeffler, 87, of Brighton, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Halcyon House in Washington. She was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Hayesville, Iowa, the daughter of Fred H. and Sylvia M. Gullett Morrow. Maxine grew up in the Hayesville area and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1941. She and Dwight G. Loeffler were united in marriage on July 29, 1946, in Washington. He died Feb. 10, 1993.
She and her husband farmed near Brighton and she worked in Dr. J. W. Budding's veterinary office in Brighton, at J.C. Penney's and McCleery Cummings Co. in Washington, Iowa Adjustment and Credit Bureau in Cedar Rapids. and as financial secretary for the Brighton United Church. She was a member of the Hopewell Club, south east of Brighton and a member of the Brighton United Church.
Maxine is survived by two sons, Dennis Loeffler and his wife, Karen of Cedar Rapids, and Douglas Loeffler and his wife, Marcella of Brighton; four grandchildren, Josh Loeffler and his wife, Lisa, Zach Loeffler and his wife, Tara, Wendy Loeffler and Jason Loeffler; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Debra Sue; and one sister, Loretta Fritchen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Brighton United Church with the Rev. Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, will open at 4 p.m. Tuesday and the family will be present 5 to 7 p.m.
