Lloyd James Wiebold passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016, at his home near Williamsburg at the age of 83 years.
Lloyd was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Gilbert J. and Marie Esther (Heitman) Wiebold. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Victor. Lloyd graduated from Victor High School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served four years during the Korean War.
In 1956, he went to work for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, where he met his life mate. On March 2, 1957, Lloyd was united in marriage to Janice M. Kimm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids.
He went to work for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and later, the veterans hospital until retiring in 1995. He also raised cattle and farmed crops.
Lloyd was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former member of the Marengo American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, visiting with people, the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes and collecting many things, especially coins and guns.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice; two sons, Michael and William, both of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Shaun Wiebold of California, Terence (Crystal) Wiebold of Texas and David Wiebold, Jason Wiebold and Nicholas (fiancee Shelby Kempf) Wiebold, all of Williamsburg; nine great-grandchildren, Ivy, Ava, Isaiah, Olina, Eila, Kaden, Kyler, Lillian and Elijah; three brothers, Russell of Cedar Rapids, Allyn of Arizona and Don of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Dale and Roy.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. The Rev. Thomas Ogilvie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
