LLOYD SPERFSLAGE
Prairieburg
Lloyd Sperfslage, 77, of Monticello, formerly of Prairieburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at the Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Kramer Funeral Home in Mont-icello, where a parish vigil service will be at 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Cahill will officiate.
Lloyd was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Earlville, Iowa, the son of William and Teresa (Soethe) Sperfslage. He moved at the age of 4 with his parents to a farm near Prairieburg. After attending St. Joseph's School, he helped on the family farm. Lloyd enjoyed "The Price Is Right" and all sports on TV. He also liked playing bingo and going on outings and family get-togethers.
He made his home at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center since 2001.
The family would like to thank them and Above and Beyond Hospice for all of their care and special acts of kindness.
Survivors include a brother, Louis (Bobbi) Sperfslage, and a sister, Joan (Larry) Stoneking, both of Monticello; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Helen Sperfslage, and a brother-in-law, Lester Weber.
Life was not always easy for Lloyd since suffering a seizure as a young child. May the angels take him by the hand and lead him to the Promised Land, where he will walk without fear and his words will all be clear.
