Lloyd A. Johnson, 63, of Iowa City, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, with a time of remembrance starting at 11 a.m. at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials can be made to the Lloyd Johnson Memorial Fund. Online condolences can be sent to his family at www.gayandciha.com.
Lloyd Alfred Johnson was born Feb. 3, 1951, in Corvallis, Ore., to Ronald and Marie Greiner, and adopted by Alfred and Clara (Finke) Johnson. He attended school in Keota, Iowa City and Washington, and served in the National Guard out of Washington, Iowa. On Aug. 25, 1973, he married Karen Rouse in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Together they have raised their family in Iowa City, working over 30 years for Leer/Shellar-Globe/UTA and more recently with security at the Riverside Casino.
His family includes his wife, Karen; children, Joshua Johnson (Olivia), Jacob Johnson (fiance, Shanetta), Jayme Clements (Keith) and Joni Reed (Shawn), all of the Iowa City area; adoptive sisters, Virginia Eden (Keith) of Lone Tree and Pauline Dicks (Ernest) of Ottumwa; siblings, Zeta, Ruby, Tom, Julie (Bob) and Fred, all of the Ottumwa area; and 18 grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Joey Miller, in 2011; and mother-in-law, Daisy Rouse.
Lloyd's family would like to thank Drs. Kauffman and Shelman and all the staff at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for the compassionate care provided to Lloyd and his family.
