Lloyd E. Hasselbusch, 96, of Clarence, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, in Clarence Nursing Home.
Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, by the Rev. David Mears. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Born May 13, 1918, in Clarence, the son of Ernest C. and Amelia (Goldsmith) Hasselbusch, he married Doris Hoffner on June 5, 1971, in Clarence. She died Nov. 29, 2009.
Lloyd was a member of St. John's UCC in Clarence. He was very generous and gave donations to many charities. Lloyd enjoyed golf, bowling, was an avid card player and loved baseball.
He graduated from Clarence Consolidated School in 1935, attended AIC Business College in Davenport and graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1971. He was drafted into the Army and World War II on Sept. 14, 1941.
He was a member of American Legion Post 286 and the Fremont Masonic Lodge of Stanwood.
Lloyd retired from banking on Dec. 31, 1982, and was a past president of the Cedar County Bankers Association, former member of the Clarence Lions Club, Clarence Commercial Club and served on the Clarence Town Council for four years. He also had served as an officer and board member of the Clarence Nursing Home for 30 years.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters.
