Lloyd George Feickert, 72, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, in Mesa, Ariz. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion conducted by the Rev. Linda Livingston. Burial will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Lloyd was born on May 15, 1946, in Decorah, Iowa, to Theodore (Ted) and Irene (Meyer) Feickert. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1965, honorably discharged in December 1967, after serving one tour in Vietnam. Lloyd earned his GED while on active duty. Lloyd married Marsha Henkes on Jan. 18, 1969, in Farmersburg, Iowa. He worked in maintenance and instrumentation at ADM Corn Processing in Cedar Rapids for 41 1/2 years, retiring in 2012. In his free time, Lloyd enjoyed taking care of his yard, always having the nicest looking lawn in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting tractors, being a "fix-it" man, telling a joke (good or bad), watching Hawkeyes football and men's basketball, and spending time with his family. He especially loved time spent with his granddaughters and watching them play softball. Lloyd and Marsha were snowbirds in Apache Junction, Ariz., for the last seven years. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 298 in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughters, Treva (Keith) Menke and Trisha (Matt) Wymore; and granddaughters, Addison, Avery and Presley Menke. Lloyd is also survived by his siblings, Norma (Wayne) Hemry, Joyce (Mick) Nelson, Judy (Mike) Moore, Vicky Kelley, Jeff (Sharon) Feickert and Rhonda (Doug) Koenig; uncle, Wilbert (Lois) Feickert; mother-in-law, Shirley Henkes; sisters-in-law, Judy Feickert, Susan Feickert, Deanna Sandberg, Sheryl (Steve) Kruse, Janice (Rick) Johanningmeier and Jeanne (Paul) Miller; brothers-in-law, Brian Meyer and Dave Schrader; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Irene; brothers, Allen and DuWayne; nephew, Tim; his father-in-law, Calvin Henkes; three brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
