Littrel, Abigail Faye
Abigail Faye Littrel, 16, cherished daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, so loved by all of us, was called to the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009. A Celebration of Abigail's life will be held from 4 to
8 p.m. Thursday at the Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine. Friends and family are welcome to bring stories and experiences to share. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, by Pastor Kay Slocum. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery.
While we all cannot understand why she is no longer here, she would want us to be comforted in the knowledge she is now surrounded by vast love in heaven as she was when here on earth. Through grace and faith she still lives, Abigail had the love of God inside of her and to those who knew her, it was apparent. She was a beautiful soul, so caring and loving. Abigail shared with us all what it's like to overcome great obstacles in life, it strengthened her. She was a shoulder to lean on, a caregiver, always helping others in any way she could. For Abby, life was a true challenge at times, but she became so strong and it was those challenges that built her character. She was loving, compassionate, forgiving and intelligent. It is heartbreaking to say goodbye, but to Abby, she's saying to all of us, "it'll be OK, because it's not really goodbye, it is, I'll see you later."
Abigail's favorite pastime was cooking and baking. Her dream was to attend the culinary arts program at Kirkwood and to become a chef like her father. She studied hard and had straight A's as a Junior at Benton Community. She felt privileged to service learn for Mrs. Aller's Kindergarten class, especially helping her new little friend, Gracie. On weekends her No. 1 thing to do was hang out with her boyfriend, Maliki, who she loved very much.
She spent a lot of time laughing and having fun with her family. Her friends would often say the Littrel house was better than cable. Abby loved all of her family and friends and she wasn't afraid to show it. She will forever be in our hearts.
Abigail Fay is survived by her mother, Donna Littrel; Allan Schau; sisters, Alexsy, Alice and Amber Littrel; mother, Theresa Youngman; brothers, Anthony Jr., Andrew Littrel and John Youngman Jr.; grandmothers, Maggie Hotz, Diane (Kenny) Bair and Nana Rosie Schau; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded by her loving father, Anthony Francis Littrel Sr., now joyously reunited; grandfathers, Robert Hotz Sr. and Dennis "the Old Geezer" Schau; and cousins, Sgt. Don Griffith and Noel Griffith.
A memorial fund has been established and may be sent to the Hrabak Funeral Home, 1704 Seventh Ave., Belle Plaine, IA 52208.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at under "obituaries."
