LISA ANN VIOLETT
Hiawatha
Memorial services for Lisa A. Violett will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, at New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids. Pastor Gary Deaville will share words of comfort. Lisa passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was 52.
The daughter of Tom and Pam (Williams) Speed, Lisa was born Oct. 8, 1963, in Burlington, Iowa. Lisa was reared and educated in Hiawatha. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School with the class of 1982. On Dec. 14, 1985, she married Kipp Violett in Iowa. The couple made their home in Iowa and moved to Atlanta in 1999, and then Inola, Okla., in 2003.
Family was most important to Lisa and she devoted her time taking good care of them, especially those grandchildren. Her four-legged companions also received her love. Lisa also enjoyed spending time planting flowers and watching hummingbirds. A strong and courageous lady, Lisa fought long and hard through health challenges. Her lung transplant in 2008 afforded time to see six more grandchildren come into this world. Although she had limitations, Lisa made the most of each day by keeping in contact with her family and friends through social media and watching her favorite shows.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lisa is survived by her husband, Kipp of their home in Inola; her children, Natasha Clark and husband Scott of Cedar Rapids, Greyson Violett and wife Lindsay of Verdigris, Okla., Hayes Violett and wife Haley of Claremore and Tricia Gilbert and husband Matt of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Adria, Alexa, Allie, Addy, Braydee, Berkley, Raelyn, Conor, Cairan, Carter and Karlee; parents, Tom and Dixie Speed and Pam and Don Horner; her brothers, Brent Speed, Ryan Speed and Eric Horner; uncle, Larry Speed; her grandmother, Twila Speed; and her mother-in-law, Peg Violett.
