Lisa Marie (Mausser) Miller, 37, of Palo, passed unexpectedly Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Lisa was born July 13, 1977, in Epworth, Iowa, daughter of Phil and Phyllis (Koopmann) Mausser. She graduated from Western Dubuque High School, Epworth, in 1995. LIsa attended Kirkwood Community College, then proceeded to get her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in social work. Most recently, she graduated with a master's degree from St. Ambrose College on May 8, 2015. She worked at Tanager Place, Cedar Rapids, doing the work she loved as a social worker. Lisa's passion was helping other people.
On June 9, 2001, Lisa was united in marriage to the love of her life, Shane Miller.
Lisa was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Lisa's hobbies included hanging with family and friends, as well as cheering for the Hawkeyes.
She could always be seen with a contagious smile on her face. Lisa was never one to get rattled or let things get her down. Lisa's children were her pride and joy, whether it was cheering on Aidan in sports or helping Haile sell endless amounts of Girl Scout cookies.
In keeping with Lisa's giving and generous spirit, it was her family's decision to donate life so that others may live through organ donation.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Shane; children, Aidan and Haile, at home; parents, Phil and Phyllis Mausser of Epworth; and siblings, Stephen (Dawn) Mausser of Epworth, Kelly Creek of Cascade, Scott (Alexis) Mausser of Sherrill and Tricia Mausser of Epworth. She also is survived by nephews, Chase and Declan Creek of Cascade; as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Donald and Margaret Koopmann; paternal grandparent, Clement Mausser; aunt, Joan Leick; cousins, David Mausser and Mason Deutmeyer; as well as mother-in-law, Helen Miller, and Robert Miller.
In lieu of flowers, a "Mini Miller" memorial fund has been established for her children, Aidan and Haile.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ortega and the staff at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic for the care and compassion exhibited toward Lisa, as well as her family and friends during this trying time.
