Linse, Marcus J.
Marcus J. Linse, 101, of Marion, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at Mercy Hallmar following a brief illness. A private family graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Gregory R. Williamson presiding. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Marcus was born June 11, 1911 in Benson, Ill., to Karl and Anna (Schwedler) Linse. He married Lois A. Mager on June 19, 1937, in Bloomington, Ill. and they raised four children together. Marcus worked for Iowa Manufacturing Company for 33 years as a sales engineer and retired in 1976. After retiring, they moved to McGregor, Iowa, where his love for the area was ongoing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served on various committees. Marcus gave of his talents by assisting in building the parsonage for St. Paul's and ended up living there in his last years.
Marcus is survived by a son, Mark Linse of Volga; three daughters, Joyce Muhlhauser of St. Louis, Marlene (Tom) Wiegand of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl Linse of Stone City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Linse of Danville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois; a son-in-law, James Muhlhauser; and a grandson, Mark Muhlhauser.
Special thanks to Dr. Marc Wilkinson and his staff, Carlene, Marni and JJ. Also a special thanks to Sonny Deke for visiting every Sunday, Steve Strong from Mercy Hospice for all of his respite care and Cyndi, a massage therapist from Mercy Hospice.
