Linda Sue Schmidt passed away June 5, 2025, following a long illness.
Linda was born to Olin and G. Margaret Fredericksen of Webster, Iowa, on July 31, 1946. After graduating high school in North English in 1964, she enrolled in the St. Luke's Hospital nursing program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and earned her RN certification in 1967. She began her nursing career working on the pediatrics floor at St. Luke's hospital. She later worked for two different senior care centers and then as a nurse and radiographer in a chiropractic office.
In her free time Linda loved flower gardening and reading fun mystery novels.
Linda met and married the love of her life, Dennis "Denny" Schmidt of Faribault, Minnesota, on March 29, 1969, to whom she was married for 54 years. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, raising three children: Eric, Neil, and Sara.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Olin and Margaret, and her husband Denny. Linda is survived by her three children, Eric Schmidt (Jennifer Killion), Neil Schmidt (Sarah), and Sara Schmidt; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Luke, Kalyn, Ivy, and Kate.
Donations in her name can be given to the ASPCA or the ALS Association.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
