Linda L. Sherman, 61, of Atkins, formerly of Wyoming, Iowa, and Kent, Wash., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A memorial gathering of family and friends
celebrating Linda's life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A private graveside service and burial will be before the gathering at Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin.
Linda Lou Scott was born March 27, 1954, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Billy and Delta (Breeden) Scott. She grew up on a farm outside of Monmouth and graduated from Wyoming High School in 1972. She then attended Mount St. Claire College in Clinton and later Marycrest College in Davenport. She married Rodney Sherman in 1975 in Calamus and to this union, one child was born, Scott.
Linda had worked in the container and packaging industry most of her life. She started out with Rycus Container in Rock Island doing office work, and then moved to Berlin Packaging in Illinois. In 1990, she moved to Washington, where she worked for Richards Packaging for 23 years as regional branch manager. She retired and returned home to Iowa in 2013.
Linda was a collector who enjoyed antiques and quilts and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Those left to honor Linda's memory include her son, Scott Sherman of Kent, Wash.; a brother, Harold (Cheryl) Scott of Fairfax; a sister, Denise (Omer) Wehr of Cedar Rapids; stepbrothers, Charles (Pauline) Kikuts of North Liberty and Karl (Aren) Kikuts of Cedar Rapids; a stepsister, Rebecca (Matthew) Jedrasko of Anchorage, Alaska; and her special friend, Rodney Sherman of Kent, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Delta Scott; her stepmother, Sue Kikuts Scott; a sister, Candy Scott; and a nephew, Samuel Kikuts.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Linda L. Sherman memorial fund has been established.
