Linda Lee Schlemmer, 65, of Shellsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. A private family inurnment will be in East Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.
Linda was born Oct. 5, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Francis and Betty (Kramer) Bouzek. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, Class of 1972. Linda was united in marriage to Earnest "Duke" Schlemmer Jr. on Sept. 30, 1972, in Covington. She worked for Aramark at Rockwell Collins for over 15 years.
Linda enjoyed camping, euchre, billiard tournaments, fishing, hunting, reading and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her husband, Duke; her children, LeNae (David) Stewart of Center Point, Regena (Eric) Hale of Cedar Rapids and Gerald (Traci) Schlemmer of Urbana; grandchildren, Zach (Morgan) Shurtz, Thomas Shurtz, Colton Hale, Corissa Hale, Alec Stewart, Drake Schlemmer, Brandilynn Stewart and Aden Schlemmer; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Leah Shurtz; her siblings, Gerald Ostrander of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Debbie Chambers of Waterloo and Gary (Debbie) Bouzek of Cedar Rapids; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Bouzek.
