LINDA PRACHAR
Cedar Rapids
Linda Prachar, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2022, surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, in the Monarch Room at Teahen's, located at 3100 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
Linda is survived by her husband, Larry; five children, Tim of Menlo Park, Calif., Jeff (Jan) of Bothell, Wash., Steve of Le Grand, Iowa, Deb (John) Hird of Joplin, Mo., and Mike (Lara) of Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Marvin (Sharon) Prachar of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Georgia Schilling and Virginia (Duke) Dusil; and a brother, Nicklos "Nik" Stadler.
Linda was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Faribault, Minn., the daughter of George and Myrtle Hanson Stadler. Linda and Larry Prachar met at Prairie High School the first term when Wilson High School and Prairie consolidated in 1958, where he captured her attention at first sight. Four years later, they were married at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. A year after their marriage, they began filling their household with five children in the span of six years, creating a busy and loving home. Although much of their lives revolved around raising their children, Linda stayed busy running the office side of their business for several decades. Additionally, she earned a degree in accounting at a local college.
Throughout her life she cared deeply not only for her human family, but also the various animals that enhanced their lives whether they be the cats in the home, or the birds, squirrels and raccoons outdoors.
They strove to instill strong values in their children, including self-sufficiency, which they practiced by always having an extensive garden ensuring their children never ate a store-bought vegetable until having their first school meal.
Linda leaves a long-lasting legacy of warmth and caring that will stay in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her for decades to come.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all of the wonderful care we received from the physicians involved and UnityPoint Hospice care during this difficult time. Also a special thanks to the team at Compass Memorial in Marengo that provided compassionate care on Linda's long journey.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that folks offer donations to St Luke’s hospice care or C&W Rustic Hollow Shelter in Nashua.
