Linda Payne, 71, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2017, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday. Survivors include her husband, Ron; a son, David, and his wife, Sonia; and three grandchildren, Brandon Overman, Jesse Overman and Nicole Payne.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Travis John, in 1971.
Linda Jean Preston was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Maxine Larson Preston. Linda graduated from Anamosa Community Schools in 1964. She married Ron on April 2, 1966, at the Methodist Church in Anamosa. She worked for a brief time at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. For many years she was the receptionist for Dr. Brown and Dr. Bailey. She finished her working career at Insta-Care in Cedar Rapids.
Linda had been a den mother for Cub Scouts. She loved to go traveling with her mother and rides on the Harley with Ron. She loved her many cats and dogs as well.
