Linda C. Newkirk, 52, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at her home following a year-long illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Alex Newkirk of Cedar Rapids; fiance, Chuck Westphal of Wyoming, Iowa; and his children, Angie (Corey) Fairley, Cory (Jane) Westphal and Chris (Robynn) Westphal and their families; siblings, Connie (Bill) Soper, Sherman Newkirk and Pete (Susie) Wolfe, all of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Leah Wolfe of Arizona, Carrie (Shannon) Ashby, Stephan Wolfe, Brandon Soper, Brianna Soper and Nic Newkirk, all of Cedar Rapids; great-nephews, Zakk (Angela) Wise and Quinn Wise, all of Cedar Rapids; great-great-niece, Charlee Wise of Cedar Rapids; and aunts, Joy (Sid) Stanbrook and Kathy Niebes, all of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Greg Steven; and many aunts and uncles.
Linda was born Feb. 9, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Edna (Atkins) Newkirk. She worked for Paulson Electric for 25 years. Linda loved spending time with her niece, Brianna, taking her to the park and movies. She loved to spend time at the farm with Chuck and Bella, planting her garden and enjoying the peaceful quiet country living. Linda enjoyed watching soap operas and was very involved in finding out about her family history.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
