Linda M. Skala, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away March 18, 2023, at West Ridge Care Center. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, with visitation to begin one hour prior, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Private family burial will take place at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Linda was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Selma (Bensch) Hartman. She graduated from Monticello High School, with the Class of 1955. On Feb. 16, 1958, Linda was united in marriage to Marvin Skala in Monticello. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2008. She worked at Collins Radio, Armstrong’s Department Store for many years until they closed and later part-time at Midwest Wheel. Linda was a member of the Dreamer Camper Club and enjoyed weekends camping at many different parks across the state. She and Marv traveled coast to coast on their Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and in their Mazda Miata. They were members of the Eastern Iowa Road Riders and Gold Wing Owners Association. Linda always enjoyed going out to eat with family or their large group of friends, but most of all, she cherished time with her kids, their spouses and her granddaughters.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl (Bryan) of Marion and Scott (Monique) of Kansas City, Mo.; and granddaughters, Sarah, Lauren and Addison.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Camp Courageous.
