Linda was born in West Union, Iowa, to Verla Kinsel-Mittelstadt and Edwin Mittelstadt. She met Richard Saunders in Chicago in 1960. They married in 1962 and lived in Lansing, Mich. They had their first child in Lansing in 1963 and moved to California in 1965, where they soon after had their second child. There Linda had an airline career spanning 37 years with Western Airlines and Delta Airlines, while raising their children in El Segundo, Calif. Richard and Linda loved to travel.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Verla and Edwin.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard E. Saunders. She is also survived by her daughter, Christine Purcell (Garry); and son, Richard D. Saunders (Janene). She was Nana to three grandchildren, Nicholas (Elizabeth), Jarred and Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brayton, Reign and Lakyn. She is also survived by her two brothers, Kenneth (Patti) Mittelstadt and Wayne (Fenglian) Mittelstadt.
