Linda Klinsky Jensen, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Ill. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St.,
SW. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely.
Linda was born Feb. 19, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Glenn and Darlene (Hickey) Klinsky. She grew up on the family farm near Ely, Iowa, and was active in the Linn County 4-H as well as activities at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ely. In 1978 she was proud to be named the Linn County Pork Queen.
After graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1978, Linda continued her education at Iowa State University, graduating in December 1982 in hotel and restaurant management. She enjoyed her short, but successful career in the food service industry with ARA Services at various John Deere manufacturing operations in both the Quad Cities and Dubuque, Iowa. A highlight for her was to attend and graduate from a chef skills program at the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
In 1986 she was married to Patrick Jensen, and had two sons that she loved dearly, Tyson and Jason. They later divorced. Linda’s life was abruptly upended in 1990 due to complications from Guillain-Barre syndrome. She most recently was happy to move closer to her sister, Shirley, in Batavia, Ill.
Linda is survived by her son, Tyson (Christa) Jensen of Mesa, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Haydon; her sister, Shirley (Douglas) Mott of Batavia, Ill.; sister-in-law, Diane (Mike) Polton of Ely; as well as many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kenneth; and son, Jason; as well as her grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to Camp Courageous in her name.
