It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Kay Meeks (Lund) announce her sudden passing on July 1, 2023, at the age of 71. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tina (Bryon) Ruby, her grandchildren Alec and Hallie Ruby, her significant other of 35 years, Johnny Brewer; her sister, Lisa Negrete; niece, Cortney (Jason) Greene; and nephew, Trevor Ricklefs. Linda was preceded in death by her son, Todd Meeks; her parents, Stanley and Gerda/Gi-Gi Lund Faulk; and sister and brother in-law, Lori and Don Styron.
Linda graduated from Kennedy High School in 1970. Her career was dedicated to children, she had in home daycare for many years and retired after 30-plus years from the Cedar Rapids school district as a para-educator. During this time she touched many children's lives with her kind soul and patience. She loved the Hallmark Channel, especially the Christmas movies. She was an amazing baker and cook. Johnny and Linda loved to fish at private ponds; fishing for crappies was her favorite, it was not a good fishing day unless they had one to two coolers full. She enjoyed going to the casino with her sister Lisa. She shared her love of birds with her niece Cortney. Linda absolutely loved any time she got to spend with her daughter Tina and grandkids Alec and Hallie, whether that was sitting on the back porch or going on a trip.
Linda will be deeply missed by all she crossed paths with. Our hearts are broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of the kindest people and to be loved by her was a true blessing. Her smile and laughter would light up a room and will forever be remembered. She was the toughest person we have ever met and fought to the very end. She had a positive outlook in life no matter what was going on. She was patient, would never judge and had an un-ending love for her grandkids.
Please help us celebrate the amazing life of Linda on Saturday, July 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1820 W Post Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
